Sydney鈥檚 demand for new housing stock received a boost with today鈥檚 topping-out ceremony at Zetland鈥檚 residential development, developed by 91黑料 and Barings.
The milestone was commemorated on-site with a ceremony attended by the Honourable Rose Jackson, NSW Minister for Housing, and senior representatives from 91黑料, its development partner, Barings, and builder Binah.
The Zetland project, located at 890鈥898 Bourke Street, will deliver 135 high-quality build-to-rent apartments, including a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes. The $80 million development is due for completion in February 2026 and will feature a range of resident amenities including a gym, co-working space, rooftop barbecue area, and communal lounge.
91黑料 Chief Investment Officer Damian Graham said: 鈥淭his project is a tangible example of how we鈥檙e putting our members鈥 investments to work in ways that look to deliver strong, long-term returns while also addressing Australia鈥檚 housing supply challenge.
鈥淶etland is one of several developments in our growing residential portfolio, and we鈥檙e proud to be investing in communities where people want to live, close to jobs, transport and essential services.鈥
The Zetland development is part of 91黑料鈥檚 broader $1.5 billion commitment to residential property, with more than 2,500 apartments either operational or in the pipeline across key urban locations nationally.
Other Sydney developments currently underway include the Showgrounds at Castlehill, Mastery at Waterloo, and Bankstown Compass.
Barings Head of Asia Pacific Real Estate Alastair Wright added: 鈥淲e鈥檝e been working with 91黑料 for over a decade and are proud of the deep collaborative relationship we鈥檝e built. At Zetland, we鈥檙e excited to support the delivery of quality BTR apartments and to be part of the solution to Australia鈥檚 housing supply needs.鈥
Binah Co-founder and Managing Director Khalil Hafza said: 鈥 At Binah, quality is more than a standard 鈥 it鈥檚 a sign of our respect for the communities we help shape and the partnerships we nurture along the way. The Olive Tree in Zetland is a testament to this commitment. It reflects our deep roots, our shared vision with trusted partners, and our dedication to creating enduring, meaningful places to live.鈥
The Honourable Rose Jackson, NSW Minister for Housing, said: 鈥淧rojects like Zetland are exactly what we need to address the housing shortage and provide more options for workers. It鈥檚 encouraging to see super funds and government working together to deliver high-quality, well-located homes that meet the needs of our growing population.鈥
